"Acting City Attorney Charles Parkin has officially kicked off an expected campaign to retain his job in the April elections.
Parkin, 55, was appointed to the position June 18 to serve the remaining term of former City Attorney Robert Shannon, who retired in July.
Parkin, Shannon’s chosen successor, has worked in the City Attorney’s Office since 1995.
“It took nearly 20 years to learn every nuance of the job,” Parkin said in a statement. “But I can honestly say, I believe I know the job better than anyone else. I have trained my entire career for this. This is where I can do the most good for the city.”
The City Council made Parkin’s appointment permanent on Aug. 6 after a short search process."
"Parkin lives in University Park Estates with his wife, Terese. He has been endorsed by the Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Long Beach Police Officers Association."
