About Charles Parkin
I am Charles Parkin and I am running for City Attorney. In April, the citizens of Long Beach will be asked to decide who will be their Long Beach City Attorney for the next four years. I know that I am the right person for the job, and am excited to announce my candidacy. Longtime City Attorney, Robert Shannon, retired last July. With the support of the City Council, I was appointed City Attorney for the unexpired balance of the term. My experience as City Attorney, as well as my long career as a Deputy and later as Principal Deputy and Assistant City Attorney, has provided me with the necessary skills to lead this very important office.
My career with the City of Long Beach began in 1984 as a Petroleum Engineering Associate for the Department of Oil Properties. After several years with the City, I attended law school at night, transferring to the City Attorney’s office in 1995 after graduating from law school. Since 1995 I have worked in both the litigation and departmental counsel divisions of the office.
